MABBA Thank You

The 2013 Gorilla Jack MABBA Provincial is finished for another year but not without the support of a lot of people and sponsors. I would like to start my thanks starting with Martin and Barry Pacak; owners of Gorilla Jack Supplements and MABBA's title sponsor again this year. Martin and Barry worked behind the scene with MABBA for the production of the posters, the morning and evening programs and the famous volunteer t-shirts that everyone loves to wear. I would like say thank you Martin, Barry and all the Gorilla Jack staff that unselfishly give up their time every year to work with MABBA…. your support does not go unnoticed. I would also like to say thank you to all our other sponsors that filled the lobby at Pantages Theatre to make our Provincials such a success MABBA looks forward to seeing you again for the Novice March 29th, 2014.

The second people that need to be thanked are the amazing volunteers that stepped up this year and made the 2013 Gorilla Jack MABBA Provincial work so smoothly. The weigh-in was the most organized weigh-in in years thanks to the volunteers helping. The Provincials always starts before most people are awake but there at Pantages Theatre at 6:30am were MABBA volunteers working to set up the tables, chairs and placing protective paper on the floors up and down stairs in the change areas. These people are not only there at 6:30am in the morning but a lot stay ALL day and worked behind the scenes at prejudging and in the evening at the finals (a very long day for all of us). Again to our fantastic volunteer base THANK YOU….. the show doesn't work without you.

I would also like to thank the staff from Pantages Theatre; both the front of house and the backstage staff who are there at 6:30am preparing the theatre for our show.

Men's Classic Bodybuilding Division to Remain at 2012 CBBF World Qualifier

The CBBF has confirmed that in addition to the NEW Men's and Women's Physique classes, the Men's Classic Bodybuilding division will remain at the 2012 CBBF World Qualifier, which will be held in Winnipeg on April 28th, 2012. This is due to the fact that Men's Classic Bodybuilding is still a contested division at the IFBB World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships, and as such will continue to be a qualifying division at the National amateur level at the CBBF World Qualifier ONLY. The Men's Classic Bodybuilding division will NOT be continued at the Novice or Provincial Championships in Manitoba.

If you finished in the TOP 5 in your respective height class in Men's Classic Bodybuilding at either the Novice or Provincial Championships in 2010 or 2011, or competed at the CBBF National Championships OR World Qualifier in those years, you may be eligible to compete in Men's Classic Bodybuilding at the 2012 CBBF World Qualifier WITH APPROVAL OF THE MABBA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. If you wish to compete in the NEW Men's Physique division at the 2012 CBBF World Qualifier, you MUST qualify In Physique at the 2012 MABBA Novice Championships, to be held in Winnipeg on March 17th, 2012. If you compete in Men's Physique at the 2012 MABBA Novice Championships, you may NOT compete in any other discipline at the World Qualifier.

If you compete in, and place in the top 5 of any weight class in Men's Bodybuilding at the 2012 MABBA Novice Championships, you will be eligible to compete in Men's Classic Bodybuilding at the 2012 CBBF World Qualifier, as long as you meet the criteria for that division. See Men's Classic Bodybuilding under Criteria.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact the MABBA Bodybuilding Chairperson, Mike Janik at mike.janik@hotmail.com.

- Symmetry, shape, proportion, muscle tone, poise and beauty flow
- physique assessment and comparison will take place during prejudging

Physique should display all of the above criteria without compromising femininity, beauty/flow of physique, etc.

The following are examples of common terms used in the bodybuilding industry. These words can be helpful to assess what should not be descriptive to the physiques being judged in WP:

I.E: Ripped, shredded, peeled, striated, dry, diced, hard, vascular, grainy, massive, thick, dense, etc.

While all types of physiques will be considered when it comes to height, weight, structure, etc. Excessive muscularity should be scored down accordingly.

To all MABBA Competitors, starting January 1st, 2009 the following directive from the CBBF will be followed, this does not involve previous years.

The Manitoba Bodybuilding Association (MABBA) is under the direction of the Canadian Bodybuilding Federation (CBBF) and will for that reason be following the directive agreed upon by the Presidents' of the IFBB at the 2008 World Congress held in November.

During the World Congress, the President of the IFBB, Dr. Rafael Santonja spoke of the IFBB Federation taking action against competitive organizations. It was further discussed at meetings in Madrid, Spain.

The CBBF will now be requesting Provincial Associations to control there athlete's involvement in competitive organizations, once they become Provincial Association Members.

The CBBF has been directed, from communication with the IFBB, not to allow professional athletes from non recognized organizations to participate in IFBB amateur events.

If a CBBF member is found to be recognized as a professional athlete, or competing for cash prizes in a competitive organizations a letter will be provided, stating this.

In addition the letter shall state if the athlete wishes to compete in the CBBF they must forgo their professional status in the competing organization.

If they fail to sign the letter, or are found to still be competing in other organization, they will have their amateur status removed and will no longer be eligible for competitions in the IFBB.
